Nauru is a very small island Micronesia in the Central Pacific. Nauru is the world’s smallest independent republic. It became independent in 1968. Has great phosphate industries there. There is only one airport in Nauru. There is only 30 kilometers of roads here. It was discovered by a Britain explorer in 1798. The United States does not have an embassy in Nauru. It holds the title of the fattest nation in the world. Nauru is the least visited country. The capital city is Yaren. The population here is about 11,359. The religion there is Christianity. Their independence day is January 31. There major industries are phosphate mining, coconut products, and banking. Their major imports are fuel, food, building materials, and machinery. By 1906 less then all of the island was mined. You can not see Nauru on a map. In 2011 there was only 200 visitors. They use Australian dollars. Nauru’s closest neighbor is Banaba which is about 300 km away. It is very hard to travel to Nauru because there is only one airline there and only is for the Nauru people.
Living in Nauru is very hard, a lot of hardships. Many people are very poor and in poverty. Many children are so poor they walk around the village with no clothes on because they can not afford them. I bet they think it is okay because they are not used to anything else. There houses are very beaten up and need a lot of repairs. It was used as a detention center for men that got kicked out of asylums. they can not really use what is around them because they do not have a lot, very minimal resources. A lot of people do not have jobs because there are very minimal job opportunities in he area. Everyone, if they have the money has to go to one supermarket because that is the only one on the island. Many people would like to stay in hotels on the island but there are only two so a kind lady renovated her house into a homestead. Many people spend the day playing outside with there friends and family, cooking, doing house hold chores, swimming. Education here is very minimal, you kind of have to learn on your own, your family will teach you. When I was researching I found no trace of schools on the island, but there could still be some. Nauru people have many hardships but they still have fun and laugh just like other ordinary people.
